Meet The Face Behind Islandmoss Productions

I’m Lori Schroeder, proud owner of Islandmoss Productions.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I was exposed to television early in life. When I was just seven years old, I appeared on a talent contest on a local TV station. I was fascinated with the equipment, the studio and all the people it took to put on a show. Later in junior high, I took a film appreciation course and realized just how much I loved the creative aspect of film and television. So I knew right out of high school what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

I got my first job in a post-production company when I was twenty years old. And I started my own business in 1993.

There have been a lot of changes in the industry from the time I started. The equipment you needed to edit a production used to take up a lot of space, and you required specialized training to operate the gear effectively and lots of money to buy it. One piece of equipment was easily the price of a home. Today everything is obtainable. Your editing can be done on a home computer and filming can be done on your smartphone. But it still takes special skill and talent to make a good production.

After all this time, I still love the creative part of my job and taking pieces of footage and putting them together to tell a story and to evoke an emotion in the viewer. The most rewarding is when a client is thrilled by the results of my team’s work. Having a client say, “this is even better than I ever imagined” is always very satisfying. Our motto is, give the client what they want and then some. This is a reflection of the values I abide in – honesty, integrity, and hard work. It is these qualities that set me apart from my competition and is what makes my company’s work stand out.

We are very personable and listen to what the clients’ needs are. For some who have never made a video before, it can be quite nerve-racking especially if it’s their first time on camera. So we make sure our clients are comfortable and have a good time on and off the camera, creating an enjoyable experience. We go above and beyond their expectations, and we always get the production completed on time and within the budget. To add to that, we also offer extremely competitive rates.

I have to say that all the people I have met through my work have been the most satisfying. Every person I have interviewed and worked with has taught me something that I didn’t know before.

When I am not at work, I enjoy photography, music, dance, and horses.
